Spin me at Spinnaker

I did it! I was 7 seven months pregnant and I went all the way to the top of the Spinnaker Tower. By the time I got to the Sky Garden I was already panting after climbing 30 steps from deck 2.

I was a bit reluctant to go when Michael asked me if I was still interested to go further, but I thought I had already gone all the way to Deck 2, so might as well complete the tour. It was spectacular to see the views of Portsmouth Harbour, Gunwharf Quays, and its neighboring towns.

However, it was raining a little, cold and windy, plus the Sky Garden is only covered by a mesh canopy, so we couldn’t really stay much longer. So, we went back down to deck 2, looked at the submarine, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, and Mary Rose Museum as I had decaf tea and muffins from the Café in the Clouds.

The Sky Walk has a hair-raising view through a glass floor – good thing I’m not afraid of heights, so I had no problem walking on it as looked down at the harbour below.

The Spinnaker Tower is one of Portsmouth’s landmarks. It is visible from all of Portsmouth and its neighboring towns and suburbs. Its design is similar to the Burj Al Arab in Dubai, in fact it is also called the Emirates Spinnaker Tower. It is one of the tallest accessible structures in the United Kingdom outside London. Cheers to me, it was quite an achievement that I managed to climb to the top of this tower, despite being very much pregnant!
